At CrossFit NorthGate, we believe that nutrition is fundamental to good health, wellness and longevity…not to mention PERFORMANCE. We will help and encourage all of our members (and friends and family) to integrate a lifestyle that begins with high quality food.
CrossFit founder, Greg Glassman, describes how to achieve world class fitness in 100 words (notice he begins with nutrition):
“Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc., hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.”
However, reaching your goals isn’t just about making sacrifice, rather, it’s about finding balance in your life and enjoying your food as well. It’s important that we look at the whole picture when it comes to what you’re eating. From the types of foods you’re selecting, to the total calories and portion size, to your macro-nutrient ratios, it all matters! We know it can be tricky, so we are here to help.
Our nutrition coaching program is research based, and focused on changing your relationship with food through habit driven, daily goals. We will guide you through this process, and focus on improving one aspect of your health at a time. In our experience, diets don’t work, but healthy changes to your lifestyle will have profound effects. Consistency over time is what will bring you success, so we are here to help you every step of the way.
